The Group having vast experience in pharmaceutical distribution field consolidated its position through the acquisition of Uganda Pharmaceuticals Ltd in 1996, under the privatization scheme. After acquisition the group invested substantially in refurbishing the plant in line with the latest GMP norms. Modern manufacturing and testing equipments were installed. Today UPL has established its own niche in the local pharmaceutical market with its quality and diverse product range.

The product range of the company includes Analgesics, Anti-pyretics, Antihelmintics, Anti-malarials, Anti-histamines, Anti-bacterials, Antibiotics, Vitamins, etc. In line with the development elsewhere in the pharmaceutical sector as well as with the policy of constant innovation and improvement at heart, the company has chalked out plans to introduce modern molecules into the local market shortly.

UPL functions have the motto “no compromise on quality”. UPL thus has a GLP compliant Quality Control laboratory well equipped with competent and experienced analysts and modern analytical instruments. QC laboratory handles all the testing needs of raw materials. Packaging materials, in-process materials and finished products.

At UPL we strive to build quality into the product.  Each product is well identified and validated through critical process parameters and subjected to regular monitoring for compliance. Regular calibration programs and multi-disciplinary in-house validation teams guarantee the soundness of the equipments and procedures.

With its constant innovation, improvement and no compromise on quality philosophy, UPL aims to become one of the pioneers in the healthcare industry in the Great Lakes region. ISO 9001-2000 certification was accredited to Uganda Pharmaceuticals (1996) Ltd. in 2006.
